Summary:Run Debian on your phone
Description:
This is an app to setup and manage a Debian install in parallel on an Android
phone. It can build a Debian install from scratch or use an existing image.
It manages the starting and stopping of the Debian install. It uses debootstrap
to build up the disk image as a chroot, and then providesstart and stop methods
for handling mounting, fsck, starting/stopping sshd, etc.. This is built from
source by f-droid except for the gpg part which can be built from the code in
info.guardianproject.gpg.txt in the fdroiddata repo. See the website for usage
instructions. This is currently functional alpha software, so do not rely on it
to produce a trusted Debian install. Please do try it out, use it, and report
criticisms, bugs, improvements, etc.

Description:
Osmand~'s features can be extended by enabling the plugins. All plugins are already present and include online
maps from many sources, tracking, OSM editing and accessibility enhancements. Map data of both vector
and raster types can be stored on the phone memory card for offline usage, and navigation can likewise use
offline methods. Map data packages for many territories are available from the Osmand website as well as a desktop application for creating your own. Donations by way of PayPal or BidforFix are welcome to support development into the future.

Osmand~ is the generic name for builds of Osmand not done by the developers though F-droid of course tries to be as faithful as possible to release builds. Prior to v0.8.1 native code isn't used, causing the apk to be quite smaller. The use of native code should speed up vector map rendering, but if it causes problems it can easily be disable in settings
